HOWARD – The Packerland Sunrise Rotary Club is pleased to announce Ella Vanden Hoogen and Sofia Gomez Zapata as the recipients of its 2026 scholarships. Both students are distinguished members of the Bay Port High School Class of 2026.
“Ella and Sofia perfectly exemplify the Rotary motto of ‘Service Above Self,’” said Anita Gjerde, a member of the Packerland Sunrise Rotary scholarship selection committee. “We are proud to support these outstanding young leaders as they take the next steps in their educational journeys.”
Vanden Hoogen, the daughter of Chad and Christine Vanden Hoogen, will attend Carroll University this fall. Gomez Zapata, the daughter of Octavio Gomez and Vera Zapata, will continue her education at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
The annual scholarship recognizes graduating seniors who demonstrate financial need, a strong commitment to community service and clear educational and career goals. Through this initiative, the Packerland Sunrise Rotary Club continues its long-standing mission to advance education, improve literacy and strengthen local communities.
The program aligns directly with Rotary International’s core areas of focus, which include supporting education, promoting peace, fighting disease, growing local economies and protecting the environment.
