Oskey named Horizon League Player of the Week

Posted

GREEN BAY – After picking up two road wins at Wright State and Northern Kentucky last weekend, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women’s basketball player Hailey Oskey, a Seymour High School graduate, was named the Horizon League Player of the Week.

The junior Oskey started the weekend with a season-high 22 points to go with 8 rebounds in 25 minutes in a 73-51 win over Wright State.

She followed that performance with 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting in a 67-58 win over Northern Kentucky, which came into the game on a 10-game winning streak.

The guard was efficient all weekend, shooting 59.3% from the field and 66.7% from beyond the 3-point line across the two games.

Over her last six games, Oskey is averaging 16.8 points and 3.3 rebounds.

Bailey Butler and Maddy Schreiber each garnered Freshman of the Week honors earlier this season, but Oskey is the lone Phoenix to win the Player of the Week award.

After hosting Horizon League-leading Youngstown State Feb. 3, Green Bay hosts Robert Morris Saturday, Feb. 5, and UW-Milwaukee Monday, Feb. 7.

The Phoenix hasn't played a home game since a 71-67 win over Central Michigan Dec. 20.
