One in critical condition after OWI crash in Ashwaubenon

ASHWAUBENON – At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, the Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department responded to a two vehicle crash on Wisconsin Highway 172 at Babcock Road in Ashwaubenon.

A 26-year-old Green Bay woman was seriously injured in the crash as she was the driver of the Ford which was allegedly driving eastbound on Highway 172 when the Jeep, driven by an 80-year-old Ashwaubenon man turned in front of her car causing the crash.

An EMS crew from County Rescue Services happened to be in the area at the time of the crash and assisted with patient care and Green Bay Metro Fire also was in the area and assisted with patient care and a fire in the engine compartment of the Ford.

Ashwaubenon Fire/Rescue crews also responded.

Fire/Rescue crews had to use extrication tools to free the woman from her vehicle.

The 80-year-old, John Gaie, was arrested for OWI causing Injury and was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 26-year-old female is in critical condition at a local hospital.

The Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department thanked the unknown bystanders who helped these people at the scene.
