GREEN BAY – Notre Dame Academy has moved boys’ and girls’ volleyball to the alternate fall season in the spring.
On Aug. 14, the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association unveiled a plan for schools to move their fall sports to the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Schools have until Sept. 1 to declare their intentions.
“There aren’t enough local teams to play,” said Notre Dame Athletic Director Matthew Koenig. “Of the potential 10 matches, five or six were two or three hours away.”
As of now, all other fall sports (cross country, football, girls’ tennis, girls’ golf, boys’ soccer) at Notre Dame are proceeding.
Spring volleyball will see an eight-week season, with practices beginning during the week of Feb. 22.
