Sadie Kelley is a senior at Pulaski High School.

She was a member of the girls’ golf team and recently finished 10th at the WIAA Division 1 individual state meet in Madison.

Kelley is looking at Division II Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado, as a possible college choice, and she hopes to golf collegiately.

Becoming an attorney or studying business/marketing are potential career choices.

Name: Sadie Kelley

School: Pulaski

Sport: Girls’ golf

Parents: Lance and Jennifer Hill-Kelley

Tell me about your family.

“I’m an only child. My dad is also an only child, and my mom has a couple of siblings. My parents are both from Oklahoma. They have lived in this area for about 20 years.”

Do you come from a sports family?

“My dad played basketball, baseball, golf and all the sports. He was the golf coach at the tribal school in Oneida a few years ago. My mom was more into academics.”

Have you done other sports at Pulaski?

“I played soccer my freshman and sophomore years. I liked the camaraderie and competitiveness of it.”

What’s your earliest golf memory?

“I would go to the golf course with my dad at a young age, but I didn’t get serious until the eighth-grade.”

Congrats on a successful state meet.

“Thank you. All of my hard work paid off in getting to the state meet. Having my family and coaches watch me was special. I played well on the first day and knew I was up there. The second day, I was doing well until the last five holes. My putter, which is usually the strength of my game, let me down.”

What is your favorite local course?

“Thornberry Creek is my home course – I am a member there.”

Do you have a most memorable golf moment?

“Besides going to state this past season, I recorded a hole-in-one my freshman year at the regional meet. It was at Crystal Springs on hole No. 17, about 98 yards. I used a pitching wedge – I wasn’t playing well that day. It slowly rolled in.”

An embarrassing moment?

“At a meet earlier this year, there was a pond within our driving distance. The days I practiced before the meet, I never hit it in there. On the day of the meet, it went right in the water.”

Your short game and accuracy are strengths, what about a weakness?

“I can’t hit the ball too far. Off the tee, I can go about 210 yards.”

What are your favorite clubs in your bag?

“My putter and 7-iron.”

I hear you had a professional golfer stay with you and your parents for this past summer’s LPGA Thornberry Creek Classic.

“Her name was Gabby Lemieux from Idaho. It was really fun. She didn’t make the cut, but we went to Six Flags Great America and took her around town.”

Does a favorite family vacation come to mind?

“Most every year, we go to Scottsdale, Arizona, over spring break to golf and get away from the cold.”

Is there something about you most people wouldn’t know?

I’m determined. Once I set my mind to something, I will achieve it.”

What three words describe you?

“Hard-working, open-minded, resilient.”

What’s your favorite thing to do on your phone?

“Watch movies on Netflix.”

How will you be remembered at Pulaski?

“As the first girl from Pulaski who made it to the state golf tournament, and I’m involved in school activities. I’m the president of DECA and a member of our student council.”
