Tell me about your family.

“I have two older brothers – Austin and Adam – and a younger brother named Owen, who is six months old. I have an older sister named Jordyn, too. Austin and Jordyn went to Preble and Adam attended Pulaski. My dad is from Peshtigo and my mom is from Green Bay.”

Do you come from a sports family?

“All of my siblings ran cross country, my mom played basketball and my dad played high school basketball and in Mexico his senior year as a foreign exchange student. He also played some college basketball at UW-Green Bay as a walk-on.”

Four years ago when you entered high school, did you think going to the state baseball tournament four straight years was a reality?

“To be honest, I expected the baseball part. Since we were 9 years old, we have been together as a group. We all expected it to flow into high school.”

Preble has two of the best players in the state in juniors Ryan Stefiuk and Max Wagner. What are they like?

“Off the field, they are very humble and never talk about themselves. They are very nice, normal guys. On the field, Max is fearless and doesn’t say much during a game. Ryan jokes around a bit more, but knows when it’s time to be serious.”

What was it like playing for coach Andy Conard?

“I would say it was intense. You always wanted to be on your game, otherwise, you knew he was going to be right there in your face. It was a good thing because it kept us going. He was a great coach.”

Did you ever do any other high school sports?

“I ran cross country my freshman and sophomore years.”

Is there a sport you wish you had done?

“Football. I was going to play my senior year, but I didn’t want an injury to derail my basketball season.”

What three words best describe you?

“Funny, outgoing, friendly.”

What are three cities you’d like to visit someday?

“Dubai, San Francisco and a city in China.”

What are three things you’re going to miss about attending Preble?

“All of my close friends I’ve made over the years, the sports and the high school experience.”

How will Joshua Nicklaus be remembered at Preble?

“I’m pretty sure I’ll be remembered as the guy who could dunk a lot.”

How many dunks did you have this past season?

“Eighteen.”

Dogs or cats?

“Dogs.”

Baseball or basketball?

“Basketball.”

Fruits or veggies?

“Fruits.”

Florida for warmth or Alaska for nature?

“Florida for warmth.”

College basketball or the NBA?

“College basketball.”
