Alivia McNabb is the starting forward on the West De Pere girls’ basketball team.
She said her most memorable moment was beating Seymour in the sectional semifinals when she was a sophomore.
What’s it like to be a senior leader on the basketball team at West De Pere?
“It’s an honor because having been on varsity my entire high school career, I have looked up to many upperclassmen for guidance, on and off the court.”
What’s your most embarrassing basketball moment?
“My sophomore year we played De Pere, and I was going to make a steal. I ran into my team's bench and got stuck in the chair, while also breaking a couple of my teammates’ water bottles.”
If you won the lottery, how would you spend your money?
“I would travel the world and participate in mission trips to less-fortunate tropical countries.”
What's your favorite thing about playing for Coach Abaray?
“He is more than a coach and is another parent to all of his players. He puts us and our season above himself, but also knows when to buckle down and be serious when needed.”
Talk about having a father who played pro football for multiple years.
“Due to my father, Dexter McNabb, playing pro football, he has made me the athlete I am today. He knows how to deal with the ups and downs which come along with being an athlete. He has strongly supported me through every season and every injury. In the end, my mental and physical strength I have today is because of the work ethic he has taught me since I was a little girl.”
What’s one thing most people don't know about you?
“I like to draw during my downtime when I’m not busy with schoolwork or sports.”
What will be the best thing about this season’s basketball team?
“Our team is as close as a family, and we are well-rounded as a group. We are excited to support each other through this season.”
What did you think of local hero Tony Bennett and the Virginia Cavaliers winning the National Championship in 2019?
“I think Coach Bennett is a family-oriented person and coaches in a positive manner. It’s great to see someone like him succeed in the coaching world that came from a city in this area.”
What are your college aspirations?
“Attend a four-year university and be able to obtain a degree in nursing.”
What would your dream job be once you graduate?
“To be a travel nurse and help people around the world.”
Favorite drill in practice?
“The 11-man because it’s a chance for us as a team to get up and down the court in a more fun way than running sprints.”
What are your hobbies?
“Drawing, working out and trap shooting with my grandpa.”
Favorite thing to do in Green Bay in summer?
“Go to the farmers market with my family and friends.”
What’s your favorite type of music?
“R & B/soul music I can listen to with my dad.”
Favorite thing to do at football games with friends on Friday nights?
“Cheer and support the boys playing.”

“Dedicated, loyal, goal-oriented.”
What has been your favorite vacation?
“Clearwater, Florida, in 2017.”

“South Carolina Lady Gamecocks and the Milwaukee Bucks.”
