At what age did you start playing your main sport?
I started playing soccer when I was around four years old.
Who introduced you to the sport?
My parents signed me up for the YMCA just to get me started with something and I have been playing ever since.
Has this always been your favorite sport? Why or why not?
I honestly fell out of love with soccer for a little bit when I played volleyball but I had some amazing teammates last year and they helped me love this sport again.
How do you feel you’ve grown, both as an athlete and a student, throughout your years in high school?
The biggest thing I have learned is to only worry about the things that are in my control whether that is on the field or in the classroom. I have also come to understand that I can be a leader without anyone telling me that I need to step into that role which I learned from soccer but I have applied that to my life outside of sports.
What has been your most memorable experience in high school?
What is your favorite high school tradition or event that you will miss?
My favorite high school tradition is our senior prank that we do every year and in soccer is our olae cheer that we do before every home game.
What has been your favorite class in school and why?
My favorite class is math because I had an amazing teacher and I love that there is only one answer instead of open ended questions like other subjects.
How do you prepare mentally and physically for a big game?
I usually take a nap before every game and I always make sure to listen to music whether that is on the bus or in my room while I get ready.
What keeps you motivated through challenging practices or games?
Knowing that I need to improve everyday for my teammates and that I need to be a leader and lead by example. My teammates and coaches are also such an amazing support system that helps me keep pushing to be the best I can be every day.
What role has teamwork played in your experience as an athlete?
What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you in a game or practice?
Last season, I had a teammate that pantsed me in the weight room in front of not only my teammates but everyone else working out.
What are your hobbies outside of school and sports?
I have two jobs that keep me busy but I also love to be with friends and hang out outdoors, whether that’s a fire or a day at the beach.
What’s your favorite way to relax after a tough week?
I always take a nap to relax and recharge as well as read outside when the weather is nice.
What is a song or artist you listen to before a game?
“Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys.
What is your pregame snack or beverage?
If you could have dinner with any athlete, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would have dinner with Michael Jordan because I would ask about his drive and mentality for success. As well as hopefully get a free pair of Jordan’s while I’m there.
What is one thing on your bucket list you would like to complete?
I would love to be able to travel the world.
Future Plans? (college, major, career, etc.)
I plan to attend the University of Kentucky to study pharmaceutical health sciences.
