At what age did you start wrestling?

Eight years old.

Who introduced you to the sport?

My older brother Shane and my dad.

Has this always been your favorite sport?
Yes, I’ve played a number of other sports but wrestling has been my favorite.

How has balancing academics and athletics been different for you from your freshman year to your senior year?
Freshman year I was more focused on wrestling than classes, but throughout my high school career I’ve been able to find a balance of school life and wrestling.

What is your favorite part about wrestling? What about it has caused you to stick with it for this long?
I like that you can always keep getting better and jump levels as an individual. I also love meeting new people and making freinds and making connections with people all over.

Is there a professional athlete you look up to? If so, whom and why?
I look up to Sarah Hildebrant. She is a 2024 Olympic gold medalist and 2020 bronze medalist for USA women’s wrestling. I look up to her because she continues to keep making leaps in her wrestling career and pushes herself to get better everyday.

What would you say is your biggest asset on the court?
Being good on my feet and getting to my offense to score first and score a lot of points.

What has been your most memorable experience in high school sports so far?
Becoming the first ever WIAA girls wrestling State champion. It was a surreal experience winning the first ever girls State title. A lot went into it in order for it to happen and I’m so grateful for the girls who came before me that made that historic state tournament happen.

How does it feel as a senior, to look back throughout high school and see your growth (as a person and athlete)?
It feels like time has moved so fast and I’ve grown so much as a person on and off the mat, so it’s fun to look back at the differences from my freshman year to senior year.

Do you have any pre-meet rituals/routines/superstitions?
I always braid my hair before any matches.

Do you take any extra steps to prepare for a big meet, outside of regular?
I train at Askren Wrestling Academy outside of the high school season where I have amazing partners there that push me to get better, along with a great coaching staff that has a good resume in the world of wrestling.

What has been your favorite experience with being a senior this year?
Getting to wrestle my last year with my little brother on the same team, I’ve watched him grow as well as myself and I’m grateful I get to experience that with a family member.

What are the top three songs on your workout/warmup playlist?
I absolutely love Taylor Swift so my top three would be “End Game,” “I Did Something Bad” and “Karma.”

Any hobbies outside of sports?
I like to kayak.

Favorite movie?
10 Things I Hate About You.

Sports drinks like Gatorade and Powerade or water?
Any blue Gatorade or Pedialyte.

Future Plans? (college, major, career, etc.)
I plan on continuing my wrestling and academic career in college.
