ASHWAUBENON – Brigett Blise knows a thing or two about sandwiches, so much that she has expanded her business into Green Bay.

For 13 years, Blise has owned Erbert & Gerbert’s connected to the BP/Waube Mart in Ashwaubenon.

She has now opened a new location at 2370 W. Mason St., connected to the Oneida One Stop Mobil gas station.

“I really like being co-branded with the local service stations,” Blise said. “This has been a successful operating model for me, and when this location became available, I was ready to expand. Plus, I have the right management team in place to assist with my growth and these local stations offer convenience for customers on-the-go.”

Blise employs 25-30 people, who make sandwiches that are straight from a storybook.

A series of stories told by a father to his 10 children about the adventures of Erbert and Gerbert Herbert evolved into the sandwich shop that started in 1988 in Eau Claire.

When a person comes in to order a Bornk, Tulluis, Comet Morehouse or Bony Billy, they are experiencing a some of the fun that started the franchise.

“They were the true characters of a story at one time,” Blise said.

With the move to Mason Street, Blise said the store can now serve the entire west side of Green Bay with deliveries.

“The timing was just right, I had the right people in place, and this spot, corporate came to me with this location being available and it all fell into place,” she said. “If you had asked me a year ago I would have said no absolutely not, but it’s all about the people you have working with you and they were willing to take this step with me.”

Blise is a hands-on owner and now is split between two locations, but works everyday making sandwiches with goofy names.

Still, she understands it takes a team to make Erbert & Gerbert’s work.

“I am nothing without the people behind me. I’m just the peon that signs the checks,” Blise said. “I have fantastic employees. I have two great managers. Without them, I couldn’t do what I do. They run the show. They run the day-to-day stuff inside the stores. I’m there, but they keep things running. They’re the people that know everybody that walks in the door, and they handle all the issues. They’re amazing.”

Sandwich fans might find the deals starting on Jan. 7 amazing, when Blise’s new store will hold its grand opening.

From Jan. 7-12, guests can enter in-store daily to win free sandwiches for a year.

Jan. 9 is free delivery day, Jan. 10 is $3 sandwich day, Jan. 11 is free chips and soda day with a sandwich purchase and Jan. 12 is free kids meal day with an adult combo purchase.

“I think the timing will be perfect,” Blise said. “People will be over Christmas and already past their News Year’s resolutions of losing weight and it should be a good week.”

The Mason Street location will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

To place an order for delivery, call 920-857-9196. The menu can be found at erbertandgerberts.com.

With more than 90 locations operating in 16 states, Erbert & Gerbert’s is on track to becoming one of the fastest-growing sandwich chains in the U.S.

The company was recently named among the Top 200 Restaurant Franchises by Entrepreneur Magazine.
