Mulva Cultural Center is continuing its partnership with Urban Cultural Arts through a summer series of hands-on creative workshops designed to support artistic exploration, community connection, and the continued recovery of Urban Cultural Arts following a devastating fire earlier this year.
Urban Cultural Arts is a community-centered urban art hub based in Green Bay dedicated to making art accessible, affordable and engaging for all. Their programs are designed to be beginner-friendly and inclusive for participants of all experience levels, including individuals with special needs.
On March 6 an electrical fire irreparably damaged Urban Cultural Arts’ building and destroyed its contents. Shortly after the fire, Mulva Cultural Center Education and Programs Manager Carrie Ryan connected with Urban Cultural Arts Executive Director Latosha Greenleaf to explore ways the organizations could work together to support recovery efforts while continuing to provide accessible arts programming to the community.
The result was a collaborative partnership that launched March 30 and has continued with weekly Monday morning workshops hosted at Mulva Cultural Center. The workshops are designed not only to help Urban Cultural Arts rebuild supplies and support financial recovery efforts, but also to complement Mulva Cultural Center’s lineup of educational and creative programming.
“We’re proud to collaborate with Urban Cultural Arts and to support their work during this important period of rebuilding,” said Ryan. “This partnership reflects the core of our mission at Mulva Cultural Center — to connect our community and inspire intellectual curiosity by exploring art, history, and science to grow the human spirit.”
Urban Cultural Arts officially opened a new location on May 30 at 618 Bodart Street in Green Bay, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s recovery journey. Even with the new space now open, rebuilding efforts continue.
The Summer Workshop Series at Mulva Cultural Center features beginner-friendly experiences in mosaic art, stained glass, candle making, resin art and more. Workshops are held Mondays at 10:30 a.m. and are open to both members and the general public. Registration is required for all workshops due to limited capacity.

Additional workshops for July and August will continue to be added on a rolling basis throughout the summer.
