Mulva Cultural Center announces program for low-income families

Posted

The Mulva Cultural Center announced it has joined Museums for All — a signature access program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), administered by the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM).

The IMLS is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 123,000 libraries and 35,000 museums with a mission to inspire libraries and museums to advance innovation, lifelong learning, and cultural and civic engagement.

The ACM champions children’s museums worldwide. With more than 460 members in 50 states and 16 countries, the ACM leverages the collective knowledge of children’s museums through convening, sharing and dissemination.

The Museums for All program offers free or reduced admissions to museums for low-income visitors.

Although entrance to Mulva Cultural Center is free, paid tickets are needed for traveling exhibits and films.

Through Museums for All, visitors who receive food assistance (SNAP) benefits, are part of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program or who have BadgerCare/ForwardHealth can enjoy the exhibits and films at Mulva Cultural Center for free.

The program allows entry for up to four people with the presentations of their SNAP, WIC or BadgerCare/ForwardHealth card plus a photo I.D.

“Everyone is welcome at the Center,” said Marv Wall, president of Mulva Cultural Center. “We don’t want cost to be a barrier for families and individuals to come, experience and enjoy.”

Mulva Cultural Center opened in December 2023 with a mission of providing an unparalleled experience through a diverse array of traveling exhibits and programs consisting of history, culture, science, and the arts, which enlighten, enrich and entertain visitors within an architecturally fascinating facility.

Museums for All was created to encourage people of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum-going habits.

More than 1,300 institutions participate in the initiative, including art museums, children’s museums, science centers, botanical gardens, zoos, history museums and more.

Participating museums are located nationwide, representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
