Mini Boss on Broadway presented by Capital Credit Union kicked off this week as part of the 22nd annual Farmers’ Market on Broadway, featuring vendors from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin.
“We are so thankful to On Broadway and Capital Credit Union for making this opportunity possible for our Littles (the youth in our program),” said Greta Gaworek, community engagement manager at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin. “It gives them the chance to step into the role of Mini Bosses, with their Bigs (their mentors) right by their side. At Big Brothers Big Sisters, we believe it takes little to be big. When someone consistently shows up for a child, it helps them grow and reach their full potential — which is why this experience is so meaningful.”
The Mini Boss on Broadway booths will appear weekly, through Aug. 6. The program allows kid entrepreneurs ages 15 and under to showcase and sell their homemade products.
“It is such a joy to see the passion these young entrepreneurs have for their products,” said Betsy Sorensen, director of special events, On Broadway, Inc. “The partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters was a natural fit. We love being able to highlight a Broadway District business and offer an entrepreneurial opportunity to support this next generation of business owners.”
Each week, market goers can peruse eight different businesses created by the kid entrepreneurs.
This year’s program will enable up to 64 kids the opportunity to polish their skills at a well-attended community event as they build their dream of becoming an entrepreneur and business owner.
