SHOREWOOD – The Bay Port girls’ swimming team continued its early-season success with a second-place finish at the Shorewood Invite Sept. 1.
The Pirates’ 335 points were behind only Cedarburg, who won the title with a score of 410.
Nine teams participated in the event, including De Pere, who finished fifth as a team with its 215 points.
Bay Port’s Emma Lasecki was a double winner on the day. The junior won the 100 Butterfly (57:34) and the 200 Individual Medley (2:08.39).
Lasecki's Butterfly time was a pool record.
She was also a part of the second-place 400 Freestyle Relay team that finished in a time of 3:42.77. Other members of that team were Riley Melendy, Emily Calaway and Lacy Geurts.
Melendy blazed to a victory in the 100 Backstroke (1:00.52) and took third in the 200 IM (2:14.79).
Geurts took second in the 50 Freestyle (25:50), while Calaway finished third in the 500 Freestyle (5:19.73).
The 200 Medley Relay team of Melendy, Lasecki, Adie Tooley and Sydney Aird rounded out the top-three finishes with a time of 1:52.42 to finish second.
For De Pere, Lauren Finstad was the only individual winner after she won the 200 Freestyle (1:58.44). Finstad also finished second in the 100 Freestyle (53.84).
Bri Zablocki took home a pair of seconds in the 100 Butterfly (57.88) and the 100 Breaststroke (1:07.97).
The 200 Freestyle Relay (L. Finstad, Bailey Venden, Anna Finstad. B. Zablocki - 1:42.95) and 400 Freestyle Relay (Danika Zablocki, L. Finstad, Jenna Finstad, B. Zablocki - 3:44.59) teams also finished second.
