Posted

Joseph F. Daignault III, 53, of Rome, passed away May 20, 2022, at the Abraham House of Rome, after a short battle with cancer. He was born August 10, 1968, the son of the late Joseph F. Jr. and Barbara A. Reed Daignault.

Joe was educated in Rome schools. He started working at a young age. His first job was at Working Man’s gas station followed by Hess’s gas station. Joe was employed several years at Kris-Tech Wire before retiring due to disability. Joe also tried his hand in the restaurant business reopening the Hollywood Restaurant for a short run.

He had a passion for fixing cars. He often worked on vehicles with his Dad and on his Dad’s 1950 Mercury’s. Joe also enjoyed buying vehicles to fix and sell. He enjoyed socializing and having beer with his friends. Joe always owned dogs and we are sure Fred and Bear were right there to greet Joe as he entered Heaven.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Daignault; his two sisters, Shelley and her husband, Doug Coleman and Tammy and her boyfriend, Joe Charette; his brother, Jim and his fiancee Barbie Simpson; his nephews, James Daignault and his fiancee Nakita Squadrito, Doug Jr. and Dylan Coleman; his nieces, Marisa Patrick and Isabella Charette. Also surviving are Jessie Festa (Jennifer’s mom); Joe’s best friend, Mark Shean and his wife Sue; Joe’s faithful companion Jenna; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Joe was predeceased by his parents Joe and Barb; his grandparents; and other family members.

The family would like to thank Jessie, Jenn and family for being there for Jenn’s Dad and all of us. They would like to thank Mark and Sue for always being there for Joe, especially the last nine days Joe spent in Oneida Hospital. Thank you both for being there for all of us. Best friends are hard to come by so thank you for being there all of these years.  Thank you to everyone who has helped with Jenna and is still helping. Enjoy your beers in Paradise Joe.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Prince-Boyd & Hyatt Home For Funerals, Inc., 210 W. Court Street, Rome, NY. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Home For Funerals Thursday from 12 to 2 p.m.
