ASHWAUBENON — Sienna Nitke won the 50- and 500-yard freestyle and was part of two relay race victories. as the Ashwaubenon Jaguars defeated the Pulaski Red Raiders 124-62 in a Fox River Classic Conference girls’ swimming dual March 12 at the Community Pool.
“Sienna has been putting in lots of time and effort in the pool,” said Kari Kleczka, Ashwaubenon coach. “She’s been breaking pool records already. I tell the girls ‘to swim what I tell you and it will benefit you in the long run.' I’m excited to see what happens next.”
Red Raiders freshman Mary Duffrin came away with a victory in the 200 individual medley, edging out Emily Selissen by less than a half of a second.
“She’s been solid for us so far,” said Connor Huff, Pulaski coach. “She does all four strokes well. She sets the tone in practice. It’s nice to have some balance with the freshman and the seniors on this team.”
In addition, University of Northern Iowa recruit Hallory Domnick won two individual races for the Jaguars, while Sydney Popp blew away the competition in the 100 freestyle, winning by five seconds.
“Sydney has stepped up the last few weeks,” added Kleczka. “She's been getting into a great mindset, and it’s paying off in the water.”
