Built in 1874 on the southwest corner of Washington and Cherry in downtown Green Bay, the Cook Hotel — as it was known at that time — was one of the finest hotels north of the bustling city of Chicago. The hotel was also known by the names of Straubel, Felch and Frontenac. Here the business was called the Sherwood Hotel in approximately the 1930s. The building was torn down in 1981.
