Green Bay stumbles early in loss to Woodchucks

ASHWAUBENON – The Green Bay Booyah allowed nine runs in the first three innings to the Wisconsin Woodchucks Sunday, July 26, and dropped a 9-5 Northwoods League game at Capital Credit Union Park in Ashwaubenon.

The Booyah loaded the bases with nobody down in the bottom of the third inning.

Bo Majkowski picked up an RBI after being hit by a pitch with the bases full, and then Matt McDonald drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to make it 9-2.

In the eighth inning, with Green Bay trailing 9-3, Ethan Payne led off the frame with a single.

Brady West then launched his third home run of the season over the right-field wall to end the scoring.

West finished the day 2-for-5 at the plate with two runs driven in.

Columbia shortstop Andy Blake went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

On the rubber, Jack Mahoney dropped to 1-2 on the season after giving up five runs in two innings pitched.

Out of the bullpen, Avery Stephens went four innings, his longest outing of the year, and gave up four runs.

Matt Stevenson and Jacob Paulishak combined for the final three innings on the mound, allowing two combined hits.

The Booyah head to Wausau Monday, July 27, to play the Woodchucks again, with first pitch at 6:35 p.m.

Harrison Cook will take the mound for Green Bay.
