This week is full of doo-wops, Feimster laughs and ales and crafts.

Young Writers Conference

March 18 - 19

Sturgeon Bay High School, Sturgeon Bay

Write On, Door County will host the Young Writers Conference for middle and high school students on March 18 and 19.

The conference will offer a place for students to learn and explore the kinds of options available for becoming a writer. Students can choose from sections centered around poetry, fiction, journalism, game writing and more. There will be three presentations from Wisconsin Poet Laureate Dasha Kelly Hamilton, singer/songwriter Cathy Greir and children’s author John Coy. 

The rest of the faculty includes Julialicia Case, Myles Dannhausen Jr., Maricio Kilwein Guevara, Janet Jennerjohn, Sarah Hammond, Mike Orlock, Alex Paniagua, Laura Force Scruggs, Kim Suhr, Angie Trudell Vasquez and Liza Wiemer.

Registration is $150 for both days, $90 for Saturday only.

Home and Lifestyles Experience

March 18 - March 20

Resch Expo, Green Bay

The Home and Lifestyles Experience will be back at the Resch Expo in partnership with Brown County Home Builders Association the weekend of March 18 - March 20 for its 59th year.

The lifestyle experience offers a variety of home needs from professionals, from home building, remodeling, interior improvements, bedding, bath and more. 

The expo also provides ideas on decorating, organizing and more. 

Tickets start at $7. There is a special Friday Home + Hops ticket for $19 that includes a beer sampling for those ages 21 and up. Weekend passes available.

Four Guyz in Dinner Jackets

Saturday, March 19

Ashwaubenon Performing Arts Center, Ashwaubenon

Wisconsin’s Doo-Wop Group, Four Guyz in Dinner Jackets, are making a stop at 7:30 p.m. March 19 for their show, “Now in Technicolor.”

Along with doo-wop, the group performs pop, rock, bubble-gum and other similar genres of music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. The show highlights the transformative time of music entertainment through T.V.

The quartet includes Reginald Kurschner, Joe Fransee, Tommy Lueck and Aaron Schmidt.

Tickets start at $32.

Ales & Ammo

Tuesday, March 22

Station 1 Brewing, Suamico

Station 1 Brewing Company will host Ales & Ammo with Arts and Crafts 920 at 6 p.m. March 22.

Participants will make pendant necklaces out of bullet shell casings and crystals while enjoying a brew or two.

Arts and Crafts 920 is a local business that works with breweries in the area to provide a space where the community can enjoy their favorite drinks while making something to take home with them. 

Tickets are $50. The event is open to those ages 21 and up.

Spring STEM Mini Camp

Wednesday, March 23

Children’s Museum of Green Bay, Green Bay

Children ages 5 - 10 are welcome to join the Children’s Museum of Green Bay for its Spring STEM Mini Camp at 1 p.m. March 23.

The camp will focus on science, technology, engineering and math. Kids will learn about the engineering design process as well as experiments and opportunities for creativity and brain-building. 

Tickets are $30 for non-members, $25 for members. Pre-registration is required.

Green Bay Comedy Crawl

Thursday, March 24

Meyer Theatre, Green Bay

Fortune Feimster kicks off the second act of the Green Bay Comedy Crawl at 7 p.m. on March 24.

Feimster is a comedian, actor and writer from North Carolina. She has made guest appearances on shows such as 2 Broke Girls, Glee and Dear White People. She is well known for her long-time standing as Colette on The Mindy Project

Her Netflix special, Sweet & Salty, which focuses on comedic coming-of-age stories. 

Tickets start at $35.
