Critters opening reception
Thursday, Dec. 9
Artless Bastard, De Pere
Nonprofit art gallery Artless Bastard (353 Main Ave) debuts its “Critters” exhibit. The focus of this annual exhibit, now in its fourth year, is animals of all varieties.
From bats to insects, to dogs and fish, artists who were interested in submitting to the group show needed to have an animal as their main theme.
The "Critters" exhibit holds special meaning to owner Alexis Arnold, as it was the first show she hosted when she took ownership over the gallery. She said it’s a huge fan favorite amongst the community.
The opening reception is from 6 pm to 8 pm and is free and open to the public.
Laughs for the whole family
Friday, Dec. 10
The Green Room, De Pere
For over 30 years, the Green Bay ComedyCity improv group has been entertaining families in Wisconsin. On Fridays, the improv group hosts a family show that’s friendly to all ages.
The audience can participate in the shows if they wish. The improv group also asks for suggestions from the audience to help set up the scenes and sketches for the show. The jokes are made up on the fly on the Green Room (365 Main Ave) stage.
The laughs start at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10.
Psycho swamp stomp
Friday, Dec. 10
Old School Bar, Green Bay
Reverend Meantooth and Keith Daniel come to Old School Bar (301 S Broadway) on Friday night.
Reverend Meantooth (pictured) is a solo project from 20 Watt Tombstone frontman Tom Jordan of Wausau. The project specializes in delta blues music, dark gospel and folk. His most recent single, “Take My Soul,” provides the soulful twang of blues accompanied by the heavy bass guitar, drums and tasteful tambourine.
Keith Daniel is a one-man psycho swamp stomp band from Mishicot. Daniel has played in bands such as local rock band Dead Modern Villains and heavy metal band Apocalyption. His current solo project features the sounds of blues rock mixed with dark, boot-stomping tunes.
The dark blues jams start at 9 pm. The event is free and open to guests 21 years old and older.
Win big at the Weidner
Friday, Dec. 10
Weidner Center, Green Bay
“The Price is Right” is known for its wide variety of games centered around the price of retail items, in which those in the audience–who are dressed up in costumes–get to participate to win big prizes.
“The Price is Right Live,” an interactive stage show version that has been all over North America over the last decade, is coming to the Weidner Center (2420 Nicolet Dr). Much like the original TV show, individuals in the audience have the chance to play well-known games such as Plinko, Cliffhangers and The Big Wheel.
The chance to win big starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets start at $40.
A Carpenters’ Christmas
Saturday, Dec. 11
Ashwaubenon Performing Arts Center, Ashwaubenon
Vocalist Lisa Rock is keeping the spirit of the Carpenters alive with her onstage renditions of their classic Christmas tunes.
Karen and Richard Carpenter were an American sibling pop duo with a soft and melodic music style. The Carpenters wrote 10 albums during their time, including a variety of Christmas albums, including 1978’s “Christmas Portrait,” which contains classic holiday songs such as “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and “Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town.”
Rock has written more than 15 concerts. A Carpenters’ Christmas has been arranged by Rock and her six-piece band to recreate the iconic songs for the Ashwaubenon Performing Arts Center (2391 S Ridge Rd) stage.
The Christmas music starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets start at $29.
Candlelight Concert Series
Thursday, Dec. 16
The Premiere, Green Bay
Local singer-songwriter Nick Gonnering performs at arts incubator space The Premiere (520 N Broadway) as a part of On Broadway, Inc.’s Candlelight Concert Series.
In 2016, Gonnering decided to pursue music after traveling through a variety of the nation’s National Parks. His debut album, “Finding My Niche,” is a folk album relying on heavy acoustics and soulful vocals.
On Broadway debuted the Candlelight Concert Series earlier this year to host local musicians inside of non-traditional places.
Gonnering will perform holiday music and be joined by a variety of local musicians for this night’s concert.
The candlelight tunes start at 6 pm and tickets start at $15.
