Green Bay City Clerk seeks applicants for District 8 seat

GREEN BAY – Green Bay Clerk Celestine Jeffreys is seeking applicants for the District 8 alder seat following  Alder Chris Wery’s resignation, effective May 16.  

“In accordance with Wis. Stats. Section 17.23, the Green Bay Common Council will select an interim alder, to complete the remainder of the term ending on April 21, 2026.  Interested residents of District 8, wards 28, 29, 30, 31 and 32, should file an application, and nomination papers (minimum of 20 valid signatures, maximum of 40),” a release from  Jeffreys’ office stated.

“Applicants may be asked to make a presentation to council.  This process is open only to electors who reside in Aldermanic District 8.   Interested applicants should review the city's website www.greenbaywi.gov/1548/District-8-Vacancy and submit an application."

The deadline is June 6 at 11:30 a.m.  

“The remaining eleven members of the common council will select, by majority vote, an alder to serve the remainder of the term from June 10, 2025 to April 21, 2026,” the release added.
