BROWN COUNTY – Two local high school juniors earned perfect scores on the ACT.
The Green Bay Area Public School District has announced that Taylor Gillis of Green Bay East High School has earned a perfect score of 36 on the ACT.
She’s involved in pit orchestra, tennis, Academic Decathlon, National Honors Society, language arts academic team, math team and the school newspaper.
She also volunteers her time at Howe Elementary School.
After high school, she plans to apply to Columbia University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Trinity College Dublin and Cambridge University with a double major in chemistry and theoretical physics.
Ashwaubenon High School student Sam Stanko earned a perfect composite score of 36 on the ACT.
In addition to his outstanding academic achievement and work in the classroom, Stanko is a member of the Saint Norbert Youth Symphony, the Wisconsin State Honors Band, and is an Eagle Scout.
Part of Stanko’s academic and career plan includes graduating college and attending medical school.
Approximately two-tenths of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score.
In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2018, only 3,741 out of more than 1.9 million graduates who took the ACT earned a top composite score of 36.
The ACT consists of testing in English, mathematics, reading and science, each scored on a scale of 1-36.
A student’s composite score is the average of the four test scores.
The ACT is a curriculum-based achievement exam that measures what students have learned in school.
Students who earn a 36 composite score have likely mastered all of the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed in first-year college courses in the core subject areas.
ACT scores are accepted by all major four-year colleges and universities across the United States.
