GBAPS Board of Education takes look at timeline, process for superintendent search

Posted

The Green Bay Area Public School (GBAPS) District Board of Education heard an update on its superintendent search process at a special Oct. 20 meeting, including a timeline for how the search is expected to progress over the coming months.

Pending board approval at the board’s Oct. 27 meeting, a survey will be available through Nov. 14  to gather data from district staff, students and community members to help inform the job posting, search process, and to aid in pre-screening candidates.

Community members will have additional opportunities to provide their input at community focus groups tentatively scheduled for early November.

The board hopes to open the recruitment window Dec. 8.

A first round of interviews is expected to take place Feb. 24-26 and will put six candidates through an interview with the board, an interview with an advisory committee (the makeup of which will be determined at a later date) and a mock public relations scenario.

A second round of interviews, expected to take place March 4-6, will have a narrowed-down list of two to three candidates experience “a day in the district” — touring different district locations and interacting with key district groups, media and the community — and go through another interview with the board at the end of the day.

With this timeline, the goal would be for the board to approve a contract at its March 23 meeting.
