Future 15: Lindsey Petasek

Posted

GREEN BAY – Lindsey Petasek was born in South Korea, but after being adopted, was raised in central Wisconsin.

“My career aspirations and education took me down various paths: communication, social work and public service. I did a lot of soul-searching and have a non-linear career path like many in the nonprofit sector. Writing has always been my skill and passion, and I have found my perfect fit in grant writing,” Petasek explained.

“During the pandemic, I found comfort in working from home. At this time, my father had ALS and was in hospice care. Working remotely allowed me to manage everything on my plate, in my heart and my head. That experience led me to explore fully remote work, landing a position writing grants for a nonprofit consulting agency. My experience within that position poised me to find my current role and tremendous job fulfillment.”

Petasek counts among her leadership values: honesty, transparency, authenticity, courage and kindness. “We often focus on traditional leadership values that work in conventional workplace environments. As the world continues to evolve, the way we work, how we communicate and the values of the upcoming generation of employees and leaders, how they lead, and who is put into leadership positions need to reflect this new workplace frontier,” she added.

Petasek sees her parents as major influences and having a large impact on her character.

“My parents were my role models growing up, and they played a critical role in shaping me into who I am today. My father was a small business owner, and my mother was a school social worker. They taught me how to work hard, stand up for what is right, the importance of service to others and how to have a work/life balance,” she explained.

“Before my mother’s diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer, I had created a side hustle for grant writing, consulting, and education. As I have the space, energy and time for that, I’d love to build that, writing grants for nonprofits, coaching others in grant writing and teaching courses to small groups.”

Petasek works as a grant writer for Soles4Souls, an organization working to get new shoes and clothing to people in crisis.

Leading up to the 2025 Future 15 & Young Professionals Awards banquet on Thursday, Feb. 27 at the Oneida Casino Hotel, we will be highlighting the finalists in each edition of the Press Times.
