GREEN BAY – Green Bay Gamblers defenseman Mason Lohrei and forward Jackson Kunz were both selected in the 2020 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
The 58th NHL Entry Draft was held Oct. 6-7.
The event, held in a remote format, was originally scheduled for June 26-27 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, but was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lohrei was selected in the second round (58th overall) by the Boston Bruins, while Kunz was picked in the fourth round (113th) by the Vancouver Canucks.
Jackson Hallum, a Gamblers affiliate player, was chosen in the third round (91st) by the Vegas Golden Knights.
Former player Tanner Dickinson (fourth round, 119th) was selected by the St. Louis Blues.
Lohrei, Kunz, Hallum and Dickinson became the 59th, 60th, 61st and 62nd players with Gamblers ties to be drafted by an NHL team, respectively.
Lohrei led all United States Hockey League (USHL) defenseman in assists (29) and was second in scoring (37) during the 2019-20 season.
The Verona native was named second-team All-USHL last year and is committed to Ohio State University.
Kunz spent last season at Shattuck St. Mary’s, a prep school in Faribault, Minnesota.
In 45 games, he tallied 40 goals and 29 assists.
Kunz has appeared in seven USHL games with the Gamblers over the last two years, recording two goals and an assist.
He was selected by the Gamblers in the first round of the 2019 Futures Draft and is committed to the University of North Dakota.
Hallum was chosen by the Gamblers in the 2020 USHL Entry Draft.
As a junior at St. Thomas Academy in Minnesota, Hallum registered 35 points (18 goals, 17 assists) in 25 games.
He is committed to the University of Michigan.
Dickinson appeared in eight games for the Gamblers during the 2018-19 campaign and spent last year in the Ontario Hockey League with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
The Gamblers’ 26th season in the USHL begins Saturday, Nov. 7, when they play host to the Muskegon Lumberjacks at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
