West De Pere came away with the biggest win of the week for the area teams. Pulaski also remained undefeated after pulling off a big road victory.

West De Pere 43, Kaukauna 42

West De Pere is looking like the real deal early on this season.

The Phantoms were up 28 points against host Kaukauna before being forced to pull off a win in overtime 43-42 on Aug. 26.

The Ghosts scored first to go up 42-35, but Najeh Mitchell scored on a 4-yard touchdown run to pull within one. Coach Chris Greisen opted to go for 2 and the win, and Mitchell took a handoff and ducked into the end zone to give West De Pere the victory on Aug. 26.

Quarterback Duke Shovald had a phenomenal night passing, going 19-for-26 for 348 yards and two touchdowns.

Wide receiver Ryder LaSage also threw a 33-yard touchdown on his only pass of the game.
Mitchell had 189 all-purpose yards, scoring three touchdowns (two rushing and one receiving) and the game-winning 2-point conversion.

Ben Lemirand and Brody Kerscher had touchdown catches.

The Phantoms are off to their first 2-0 start since 2019.

Pulaski 21, Hortonville 16

After trailing 10-0 early, Pulaski scored 21 unanswered points and held off host Hortonville 21-16 on Aug. 26.

A blocked kick and return for a touchdown got the Red Raiders going in the second quarter.

Pulaski (2-0) took the lead for good in the third when quarterback Logan Schultz hit Aidan McDougal for a 7-yard touchdown to make it 14-10.

Maverick Cole, who rushed for 71 yards on eight carries, had an 8-yard touchdown run to put Pulaski up by 11 entering the fourth quarter.

Schultz finished 9-for-15 passing for 94 yards. McDougal had three receptions for 36 yards.

Kettle Moraine 34, Ashwaubenon 21

Ashwaubenon trailed by three touchdowns in the first eight minutes of its game at Kettle Moraine and ended up falling 34-21 on Aug. 25.

Down 20-0, Ashwaubenon quarterback Boone Kirst hit Eli Zollar for a 28-yard touchdown near the end of the first quarter.

After Kettle Moraine answered, Kirst connected with Jayden Schoen for a 12-yard score for the Jaguars to make it 27-14.

Again, Kettle Moraine scored and Ashwaubenon (0-2) got the final touchdown as Hayden Thomas hit Easton Hockers from 15 yards out.

Kirst had a busy night throwing, going 29-for-58 for 266 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Jacob McVane had 44 yards rushing and Caden Van Duyse logged 96 yards receiving.

Oshkosh North 33, Green Bay Southwest 0

Green Bay Southwest had a tough time generating much offense, falling 33-0 at home to Oshkosh North on Aug. 25.

The Trojans (0-2) finished with 27 yards of total offense.

“Oshkosh North was a really physical team and we struggled to match it in all phases of the game,” Green Bay Southwest co-head coach Aaron Van Eperen said. “Our execution, energy, and effort just weren’t good enough to compete in this game. We need everyone -- coaches and players -- to go back and look in the mirror a bit and have the difficult conversations to get things corrected prior to facing a really talented and well-coached team in Ashwaubenon this week.”

Mason Meyer was 5-for-14 through the air for 17 yards.

Jacob Hanson led the Trojans in rushing with 29 yards on 13 carries.

Manawa 56, Green Bay West 0

Green Bay West (0-2) was forced into six turnovers and lost 56-0 at Manawa on Aug. 26.

The Wildcats trailed 49-0 at halftime as Manawa rushed for five touchdowns on the night.

“We had six turnovers -- one for a pick-6 -- and fundamental mistakes did us in early,” first-year Green Bay West coach Drew Brusoe said.

Ricky Bell was 2-for-4 passing for West for 48 yards. His top receiver was Dakotah Montez, who had a 41-yard reception.

Jalen Brown rushed for 47 yards on 20 carries. He also had eight tackles on defense, one for a loss.

Appleton North 42, Green Bay Preble 0

In a tough road atmosphere, Green Bay Preble (0-2) was downed 42-0 by Appleton North on Aug. 25.
Hornets quarterback David Torres was 4-for-16 for 38 yards through the air.

Xavier Simon and Jack Neumann each had 19 yards receiving.

Ja’donn Potter-Kanyata had 18 carries for 32 yards.

Algoma 48, N.E.W. Lutheran/Oneida Nation 12

The United -- which is an 8-Player co-op for N.E.W. Lutheran and Oneida Nation -- lost its season opener at Algoma 48-12 on Aug. 25.

The United (0-1) trailed 14-0 when Jedi Gbaja-Biamila scored on a 3-yard run to make it 14-6.
Algoma answered with the next 18 points to pull away.

Bryce Liebzeit had a 9-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for United.

Liebzeit had a big game, rushing for 144 yards on 17 carries.

Quarterback Reid Nelson was 3-for-8 passing for 17 yards; Griffin Steffel had all three catches.

Gbaja-Biamila had nine tackles and a sack to lead the United defense.
