Evergreen to stage two summer shows

Posted

Evergreen Theater is set to stage two shows in the coming weeks as part of its summer programming with Charleston! opening Aug. 6 and The Lion King, Jr. opening Aug. 13 at UW-Green Bay’s University Theater.

Tickets for both shows can be found at evergreentheater.square.site/.

‘Charleston!’

Charleston! is set in the 1920s, complete with Ziegfeld girls, raccoon coats, ukuleles, goldfish swallowers and gangsters.

Polly Pepper, a young flapper, is about to turn 18 and will inherit an extraordinary diamond necklace. She is planning a wacky birthday party and is inviting all her friends.

Buck Wayne, Polly’s new boyfriend, wouldn’t miss the birthday celebration for anything, even if he has to land his private plane on the lawn of the polo grounds. Mobsters are planning to grab the necklace and have devised a clever con to crash Polly’s party.

Performances of Charleston! Will take place Aug. 6 and 7 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

‘The Lion King, Jr.’

The Lion King, Jr is the story of Simba, an adventurous and energetic lion cub who is next in line to be king of the Pridelands, a thriving and beautiful region in the African savanna.

Simba’s father, Mufasa, is killed by his uncle, Scar, though Scar leads Simba to believe it was his fault and encourages him to run away forever. Scar seizes power and the Pridelands become a dark, desolate place under his rule. Only Simba can save the animals of the kingdom.

Performances of The Lion King, Jr. will take place Aug. 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 15 at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
