ASHWAUBENON – A change to the liquor license backed Tuesday, July 10, by the Ashwaubenon Public Works and Protection Committee would allow Pick ‘n Save at 1291 Lombardi Access Road to have customers make online orders of groceries, as well as alcohol and tobacco, and pick up their orders from the east side of the store.
Dan Farrell, vice president of real estate for Roundy’s, appeared before the committee to discuss how the ClickList program would be used at Pick ‘n Save with the liquor license being amended.
“Roundy’s, as a division of Kroger, has over 1,000 locations already operating the ClickList operation, and so we’re well-trained on how deal with… liquor and tobacco issues,” Farrell said. “There’s procedures in place to make sure that all product that needs to be… purchased by somebody of a certain legal age, they will be carded and obviously go through the appropriate procedure to make sure that it’s a sale to an appropriate individual.”
Farrell said anyone delivering an order with alcohol to a vehicle would have to be of a legal age as well as have a bartender’s license.
A letter from Roundy’s to Ashwaubenon Clerk/Treasurer Patrick Moynihan Jr. noted that after a order is submitted online by a customer, a designated ClickList shopper, who will be a store employee, selects the customer’s items and generates a receipt, prior to the customer being notified the order is available for pickup in the designated parking stalls with the shopper loading the merchandise in the customer’s vehicle.
If the order contains alcohol or tobacco, the letter further notes the customer’s age would be verified prior to the transfer of products with the ClickList service available for customers daily between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Farrell said stores in Bellevue, Green Bay and the Appleton area are already using the ClickList program and haven’t had any issues with it.
Unless someone could show proof of age, Farrell said that person would not be able to get alcohol with an order to be picked up at the store.
The proposed amendment to Pick 'n Save’s liquor license for the ClickList program is being forwarded to the village board for final approval at its July 24 meeting.
