Downtown Green Bay, Inc. has announced the return of Children’s Theatre in the Park, featuring a spirited outdoor performance of Hi Ho Robin Hood-The Musical.
The free performances by Evergreen Theater Young Actors will take place Saturday, Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Green Bay’s Whitney Park.
The whimsical musical adventure brings the legend of Robin Hood to life with humor, heart and toe-tapping tunes.
Set in Sherwood Forest, the story follows Robin Hood as he defies the scheming Prince John, who has seized power in the absence of King Richard the Lionheart.
With Maid Marian in danger and Nottingham in turmoil, only Robin and his merry band can save the day.
Audiences of all ages will cheer as Robin famously splits an arrow in two to win a golden prize.
“There’s something magical about seeing young performers shine in the heart of our downtown Olde Main Street District,” said Jeff Mirkes, Executive Director of Downtown Green Bay, Inc. “Children’s Theatre in the Park brings families together and makes the arts accessible in a fun, welcoming way. It’s a joyful tradition we’re proud to support.”
Written by Tim Kelly, with music by Arne Christiansen and lyrics by Ole H. Kittleson, Hi Ho Robin Hood is full of memorable songs, playful energy and classic storytelling.
“Our cast of young actors has poured their hearts into this production,” said Curt Christnot, director of Evergreen Theater’s Young Actors. “They’re excited to share the joy of live theatre with the community, and Whitney Park is the perfect backdrop for this adventurous tale.”
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, or picnic baskets for this outdoor theatrical experience.
Refreshments including soda, water and snacks will be available for purchase on-site, including treats from Thibby’s Ice Cream Truck.
In case of inclement weather, the 11 a.m. performance will move to The Art Garage
