Locals and visitors will have plenty of activities to add to their to-do list during the Draft in April 2025.
“We want everybody in our community to benefit from the economic prosperity that the Draft can bring to this region, and in order to do that we really have to work together and put on activities that cater to our entire community and not exclusively the visitors…” said Brian Johnson, President and CEO of On Broadway, Inc. “This is really about making sure that our downtown benefits and has the opportunity to experience a lot of the hype and energy that will come along with the NFL Draft.”
On Broadway, Inc., Downtown Green Bay, Inc. and the City of Green Bay have joined together to plan activities throughout downtown business districts.
“I’ve had a number of conversations with other host communities and host mayors in Detroit and they said it’s a massive opportunity, but you have to really take advantage of it. You have to leverage the chance to have this event within your community and do whatever you can to attract people to all elements of the city — to our downtown, to the Military Avenue District, to all of the amenities that we have to see,” said Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich.
This series of events spans four days and is collectively called ‘Touchdown Downtown.’
“Our teams have been working hard to make Touchdown Downtown something truly special,” said Jeff Mirkes, executive director with Downtown Green Bay, Inc. “It’s not just about having fun events—it’s about celebrating the people, businesses, and traditions that make Downtown Green Bay a historic location and so unique. From the Booyah Battle to the Draft Edition of the Saturday Farmers Market, these events are for everyone to enjoy. Let’s show the world what Green Bay is all about.”
This friendly competition will be held on Washington St., Downtown Green Bay on Friday, April 25, from 10am-1pm, featuring local nonprofits paired with a booyah chef to battle it out for booyah supremacy.
The best booyah will be determined by a panel of judges who will blind taste-test a sample from each chef.
There will also be a People’s Choice award determined by popular vote.
Attendees will enjoy iconic live music from the polka band LIVEwire and can quench their thirst with local beer and other beverage options.
