The Medical Examiner’s findings following the autopsy confirm the victim died of strangulation/suffocation by manner of homicide.
The suspect and victim had occupied the same cell for only hours before the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing and formal charges are expected to be filed late next week.

ALLOUEZ – Brown County Sheriff’s Captain Jody Lemmens said that the department is currently investigating a death at the Green Bay Correctional Institution (GBCI) as a homicide.
“On Tuesday, Aug. 27, at approximately 9:35 p.m., Brown County Sheriff’s Officers were dispatched to the Green Bay Correctional Institution for a report of an inmate pulseless and non-breathing,” a release from Lemmens stated.
“Deputies and medical personnel arrived on scene to render aid. The victim was beyond help and pronounced dead at the scene. The initial death investigation led to what is now being considered a homicide investigation.
“Initial information confirms the victim and suspect were cell mates and the incident happened in their cell.”
The victim was identified Micah Laureano, 19, and the suspect as Jackson Vogel, 24.
The incident is under investigation by Brown County Sheriff’s investigators.
No further information is being released at this time.
GBCI, 2833 Riverside Dr., Allouez, is an adult male maximum-security correctional facility operated by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
