GREEN BAY – The NEW Lutheran Blazers (5-8 overall, 3-5 conf.) secured a 61-18 win over the Southern Door Eagles in their match up on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
“We’ve been working on little things, trying to get them to turn into big things. We ran an offense tonight and we were doing some good bunnies here and there. We’ve just got to keep working because we’ve got the top of the conference coming for us again so we’re ready for them and we need to make sure that we’re getting them,” said Blazers Head Coach Nicki Natzke.
During the match, NEW Lutheran’s Ingrid Beaumont earned her 1,000th career point, becoming only the fourth player in program history to do so.
“She’s only the fourth player that’s done that, and she’s the third one that I’ve coached, so it’s pretty special for me, knowing how hard she has worked to get it and to see the joy in her face so that she knows all that hard work has paid off for her,” said Natzke.
Beaumont had 26 points on the night, helping to lead her team to victory.
According to Natzke, the team still has some things that they need to work on in order to climb the standings in the Packerland Conference.
“Our turnovers. We’re just turning the ball away with some not-smart passes. We’re just missing some bunnies that we can’t afford to miss when we play good teams,” said Natzke.
After hosting Sheboygan Christian on Thursday, Jan. 9, the Blazers will travel to Peshtigo on Monday, Jan. 13 to take on the Bulldogs.
