Big Mouth and the Power Tool Horns brought down the house Friday, May 30, at the historic Tarlton Theatre, where the beloved horn-driven band introduced powerhouse vocalist Kelsey Denae to a sold-out crowd.
Born and raised in Green Bay and a proud Ashwaubenon High School graduate, Denae returned home after more than a decade performing professionally out of New York City.
Her dynamic stage presence and soaring vocals added fresh energy to the veteran ensemble, which has long been a staple of the Wisconsin music scene.
Friday’s concert was a homecoming in more ways than one.
Former member and frequent stand-in Woody Mankowski joined Denae on stage, reuniting with the band for a night full of funk, soul and signature horns that had the Tarlton crowd on their feet.
Denae brings a rich résumé of national and regional stage experience, including roles in Les Misérables, Next to Normal, 9 to 5 and RENT, as well as film credits such as Neon Boys.
Her versatility and stage savvy made an immediate impression on longtime Big Mouth fans.
Big Mouth and the Power Tool Horns continue their summer tour across northeast Wisconsin, with Denae now front and center starting a fresh chapter for one of the area’s most iconic live acts.
