BELLEVUE – At its July 8 virtual meeting, the Bellevue village board extended its interim fire chief services agreement with the City of Green Bay.
Village administrator Diane Wessel said the fire commission is responsible for deciding who is the fire chief, while the village board is responsible for the terms of the agreement.
“At its July 6 meeting, the fire commission unanimously recommended the village continue its agreement with Green Bay,” she said. “They also made a recommendation for the term of the contract to be extended through Jan. 31, 2021.”
Wessel said the notice for termination of the agreement went from 15 to 30 days to protect the village in case Green Bay decides it no longer wants the agreement.
“The rest of the contract is a mirror image of what it is now,” she said.
David Litton is the interim fire chief.
In other news, Greg Potts, operations manager, is resigning to become the public works director for Ledgeview.
“It will be a big void for us but a great opportunity for Greg,” said Andy Rowell, director of public works. “We need to work quickly to get this void filled. I’ve looked at the job descriptions, and there are a few irregularities I’d like to clean up before we post the openings.”
Rowell said Potts has given the village through July 31 before he resigns.
The ADA-compliant kayak launch is back in the water at the Manderly Way trailhead and officially open for use after flooding recently closed it.
Village staff said water levels on the East River are currently high, and at times, water may be over the gangway leading to the dock.
They said caution should be used when utilizing the kayak launch or dock.
