BOYS SWIMMING: the Pirates won the 18th Annual Metro Officials Invite in Homestead Dec. 28.
Bay Port narrowly edged out Arrowhead by a 411-407 margin to win the 14-team meet.
Overall event winners for the Pirates were Calvin Schilz in the 400 IM (4:22:15) and 200 Breastroke (2:19:08), and Alec Jeffers in the 100 Backstroke (55:54).

GIRLS BASKETBALL: the Pirates got an impressive 64-39 FRCC win over De Pere Dec. 28.
Sophomores McKenzie Johnson (15), Emma Nagel (11) and Mady Draak (11) scored in double figures, while Nagel had 10 rebounds.

HOCKEY: Bay Port dropped a pair of games at the Antigo Holiday Tournament last weekend.
The Pirates lost 1-0 to D.C. Everest and 2-1 to Antigo.
Goalie Riley Baye made 39 saves in the loss to Everest and 44 against the Red Robins.
Nick Messerschmidt had the only goal of the weekend for Bay Port (2-9-1), who has lost five games in a row.
BAY AREA ICE BEARS GIRLS HOCKEY: Bay Area traveled to Minneapolis last weekend for the Schwan’s Cup Tournament and went 1-2 in three games.
The Ice Bears won a 2-0 game over Henry Sibley Dec. 29, but lost 6-4 Dec. 28 to Minneapolis and 5-3 versus Cambridge-Isanti/Mora/PC Dec. 30.
Mia Dunning (Ashwaubenon – 2 goals/3 assists), Katerina Zrnova (Ashwaubenon – 2, 2) Abby Anderson (Notre Dame – 1, 2), Kalli Mikesch (Bay Port – 2 goals) and Jordyn Kadrlik (Bay Port – 1, 1) all had strong showings for the Ice Bears.
Goalie Delaney Butterfield (Notre Dame) stopped 76 of the 87 shots she faced in the three games for Bay Area (5-6-3).
WRESTLING: the Pirates competed in the Northern Exposure Tournament Dec. 28 at Merrill High School.
Bay Port got wins over Mineral Point (47-27), Beaver Dam/Wayland Academy (58-15), Menomonie (54-19) and Rosholt (54-19). The Pirates lost to De Pere (42-35), Two Rivers (43-31) and Sauk Prairie (40-20).
Travis Jahnke (170) went 6-0 in his matches, while Eli Trast (285) and Matt Arnoldi went 6-1. Max Meeuwsen (220), Chandler Stordeur (160) and Austin Heim (132) all had 5-2 records.
