SUAMICO – With the Bay Port girls’ soccer team winning the WIAA D1 state championship on June 16, the spring season officially came to an end.
It was a very successful campaign for the Pirates playing in the D1 Fox River Classic Conference, as 50 athletes took home post-season conference honors.
Baseball: Sophomore Call Verlanic was the lone Pirate to make the first team, doing so as an outfielder. Verlanic, who also saw action on the mound, hit .310 in conference play.
Seniors Brett Stanzel (.321, OF) and Bot Tilot (.417, IF), and sophomore Jake Berg (.417, IF) all made second team, while junior Carter Highline (3-1, 1.40 ERA) was tabbed as an honorable-mention pitcher.
Boys' golf: Senior Jed Baranczyk (first-team), sophomore Preston Cedergren (second-team) and senior Nate Kroll (honorable-mention) all made the list.

Softball: Junior Emma Hock (.435, C) and sophomore Maddy Ehlke (.537, IF) were first team, while senior pitcher Sydney LaPoint (8-3, 1.32 ERA) made second team.
Junior outfielder Jourdan Lee (.380) was selected honorable mention.
Ehlke was a unanimous first-team pick and second in the league in hitting. She had 26 RBI and five home runs. Hock also had five homers.
LaPoint, the reigning conference player of the year, led the league in ERA and tied for second in strikeouts with 140 in her 85 innings of work. She also batted .308 from the plate.
Boys’ tennis: The freshman/sophomore No. 3 doubles duo of Hudson Menne and Tanner Belschner received second-team status, while the No. 1 team of Eric Stratman (senior) and Aaron Murphy (sophomore), along with seniors Brett Fuglestad and Travis Van De Yacht were honorable mention at No. 2 doubles.
Track & field: The all-conference honors for track and field were determined from the order of finish at the FRCC meet in Pulaski on May 15.
Boys: first team – sophomore Ryan Thieme (1600), Lamont Hendricks (110 hurdles), the 3200-meter relay team, sophomore Isaiah Gash (triple jump) and senior Jack Plumb (shot put); second team – senior Kyle Thieme (800), junior Dylan Grosskreutz (pole vault) and junior Owen Miller (long jump); honorable mention – senior Nick Key (800), the 800-meter relay team and Grosskreutz (long jump).
Girls: first team – senior Savannah Huben (800), freshman Ella Meeuwsen (high jump) and senior Liz Blindauer (discus); second team – the 1600-meter relay team; honorable mention – senior Bailey Cisar (400), senior Olivia Mabry (pole vault) and senior Eniola Adeniji (long jump).
