GREEN BAY – The city of Green Bay will host a ribbon cutting to celebrate the renovation of the historic Bay Beach Pavilion Dance Hall and its new capabilities as a year-round gathering space for the community on Monday, June 15, at 11 a.m.
The improvements allow the pavilion to welcome events in every season while preserving its historic character as a family friendly destination at Bay Beach Amusement Park.
“The Bay Beach pavilion is an iconic piece of Green Bay’s history, and we want it to be an essential element of our future as well,” said Mayor Eric Genrich. “The improvements we’re announcing allow for this facility to serve the community in a bigger and better way and enable future improvements to the pavilion to take place in the future.”
The project converted what had been a primarily summer-only building into a year-round rental facility available for weddings, corporate functions, community celebrations and other special events.
Renovations included replacing older windows with high efficiency models, adding insulation and installing modern heating and air conditioning to improve comfort for guests throughout the year.
With the updated pavilion now open for reservations, the city anticipates increased use by families, businesses and community organizations. Those events are expected to generate revenue that helps the pavilion cover its operating costs and support continued reinvestment in Bay Beach and its amenities.
“The Bay Beach Pavilion has hosted countless community events and celebrations in the past, including President Franklin Roosevelt’s visit to commemorate the tricentennial of Jean Nicolet’s landing at Red Banks,” Genrich said. “It’s deserving of preservation and renovation, and I’m thankful to our Common Council for supporting this work and to the Friends of Bay Beach for all their support through the years and for their recognition of the worthiness of this project.”
Renovations to the pavilion were made possible by one-time federal relief dollars provided through from the American Rescue Plan Act. The mayor and Common Council authorized the project as a way to extend the life of a historic space, expand access to affordable event rentals and strengthen one of Green Bay’s most beloved public attractions.
The Bay Beach Pavilion Dance Hall, located in the main pavilion at Bay Beach Amusement Park, can accommodate up to 300 guests with tables, chairs, a PA system and restrooms.
Bay Beach continues to offer low-cost rides, concessions and picnic areas, giving event hosts the opportunity to pair their gatherings with classic amusement park experiences on the shores of Green Bay.
The ribbon cutting for the renovated Pavilion will take place on Monday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at Bay Beach Amusement Park.
