Barkhausen holding drawing for gun-deer season permits

SUAMICO - The Brown County Parks Department reported the Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve and Fort Howard Paper Foundation Wildlife Area will be open for the nine-day gun-deer season in 2018 by permit only.

A limited number of permits are available which will be issued by random drawing.

Applicants may register for the drawing as an individual, or as a group (no more than three people per group).

Note that applicants may not register for the drawing in both categories.

Registration for the drawing will take place until Aug. 15 by calling the preserve at 920-434-2824.

Names for the drawing will be taken only during that time frame.

Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve is located just north of Green Bay in the village of Suamico. Take U.S. 41/141 north to the Lineville Road exit and follow the signs.

Barkhausen’s Interpretive Center is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The preserve’s trails are open every day from sunrise to sunset.

Barkhausen is part of the Brown County Parks System.
