Ashwaubenon surveying interest in a village dog park

AHWAUBENON – Following discussions this summer by the village’s Parks and Recreation Board as to whether Ashwaubenon should have its own dog park, an online survey is being taken of village residents now through Nov. 14 to find out what interest there is in such a park.

As noted in the introduction to the survey, which is linked to the village’s website and can be accessed at Ashwaubenon.com/dogpark, the board discussed where a dog park could be located, possible park size, potentially changing a neighborhood park into a dog park or finding land to build a separate park, as well as maintenance, but took no action.

The survey is for Ashwaubenon residents only, whether they are for or against a dog park. Hard copies of the survey are also available at the Parks and Recreation Department office.

Currently, the village allows dogs in parks on a “pass-through” basis. Dogs must be on leashes no longer than 8 feet with the owners in control.

In addition, “dog passes” are given out in the parks and recreation office for those who would like to run their dogs “off-leash” in Ashwaubomay Park and Fort Howard Park for “goose-control” purposes.
