GREEN BAY – A pair of Fox River Classic Conference girls’ basketball players – Notre Dame Academy’s Sammy Opichka and Green Bay Southwest’s Jaddan Simmons – were recently named to the Division 2 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association all-state team.
Simmons, a senior, was selected first team for the second consecutive season.
The Arizona State University commit led Southwest to a 16-8 record and a regional final appearance.
Simmons averaged 21.6 points, 8 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 4.7 steals per game.
She ended her career with 1,936 points.
Opichka, a junior, led Notre Dame (18-7) to a sectional appearance and averaged 15.5 points, 3.9 assists and 2.7 steals per contest.
The Division I prospect has more than 900 career points.
West De Pere junior Alexa Thomson was named to the Division 2 honorable-mention all-state team for the 19-5 Phantoms.
Thomson scored 16.9 points and grabbed 9.1 rebounds per outing and currently has 842 career points.
