Trojans and Phantoms play to tie
GREEN BAY—A tie is always better than a lost.That was the case with Green Bay Southwest who got a goal in the 89th minute by Taylor Johnson to tie the West De Pere Phantoms 1-1 in a girls’ soccer game played April 23 at Dallin Family Stadium.
Senior Spotlight: Karson Corcoran-West De Pere soccer
Karson Corcoran is a senior on the West De Pere soccer team.She states the hardest part is over analyzing the other team and letting it affect how you play.Sometimes we don’t play to our full potential when we know who we are playing.She states Tobin Heath as being her favorite soccer player because of the slick passes he makes during a game.
Redbirds’ three-goal flurry lifts them over Phantoms
DE PERE—The De Pere Redbirds girls’ soccer team scored three goals during a 10-minute span of the second half to propel them to a 3-0 victory over the West De Pere Phantoms, April 8, in a game played at West De Pere High School.“We did a great job of pressing them,” said De Pere head coach Andy Steger. “I thought we created much better opportunities in the second half and were fortunate with a couple long kicks that found the net.”

LEWISTON, NEW YORK – Jennifer Timm is not your average athlete.As a freshman on the West De Pere softball team in 2012, she scored the winning run in the sectional finals to advance her team to state in Madison. Over her four years, Timm helped the Phantoms win 60 games.
Baeten’s two goals lifts Phantoms over Jaguars
DE PERE—Bailey Baeten scored two goals and Emily Gorzlancyk added one as the West De Pere Phantoms girls’ soccer team defeated the Ashwaubenon Jaguars by a final of 3-0 in a game played April 5 at West De Pere High School.
Bay Conference winter sports awards announced
BROWN COUNTY – Multiple athletes from Green Bay East, Green Bay West and West De Pere received recognition for their excelled participation in a sport during the winter season.Isaac Klarkowski was named the co-wrestler of the year for Green Bay United after winning four matches and finishing third at the WIAA Individual State Tournament.
Eggart throws no-hitter as Phantoms defeat Ships
DE PERE—Genesis Eggart didn’t allow a single hit to get past her as the West De Pere Phantoms defeated the Manitowoc Ships by a final of 5-0 in a non-conference game played March 29 at West De Pere Middle School.“It was a great defensive effort by the girls today after yesterday’s loss to Oshkosh West,” said West De Pere softball coach Tom Zimdars. “Genesis is an ultra-talented kid that I’ve seen pith even better than today. In addition, we had some great catches in the outfield to preserve the no-hitter.”
Senior Spotlight: Jake Karchinski – West De Pere basketball, football
Jake Karchinski starred in both basketball and football during his high school career at West De Pere.Karchinski led the football team to a 13-1 record and a trip to WIAA Division 3 state finals.Many times, he was an unstoppable force, garnering double and triple teams.In his final season, he had 55 tackles (16 of them were for losses), 7.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.In his presence, the defense recorded three shutouts and held their opponents to a touchdown or less in eight contests.
Senior Spotlight: Piper Linssen – West De Pere girls’ basketball
Piper Linssen was a member of the West De Pere girls’ basketball team that went 14-0 in the Bay Conference and finished 16-6 overall.She was one of only two seniors on an underclassmen-laden team.Linssen shot over 40 percent from the floor and played a key role during games with Menasha and Seymour, scoring nine points and grabbing multiple rebounds.
Pytleski, Trojans hold off Phantoms to win regional championship
GREEN BAY—Coaches almost always talk about finishing a game.The Green Bay Southwest boys’ basketball team didn’t start strong but managed to close hard and defeat a pesky West De Pere squad by a final of 65-55, Mar. 2, in a game played at Southwest High School.
