De Pere girls’ basketball player Rachel Kerkhoff eclipsed the 1,000 career point total with 23 points Feb. 16 against Ashwaubenon.

The WIAA released the boys’ basketball brackets Feb. 17 for the postseason.

APPLETON—Cody Minor (Ashwaubenon), Cole Gille (Pulaski), Chandler Stordeur (Bay Port), Connor Ramage (Ashwaubenon), Charlie Hooyman (De Pere), and Max Meeuwsen (Bay Port) all won Sectional Championships, Feb. 16, at Appleton North High School and punched their ticket to Madison and the WIAA Individual Tournament this upcoming week.

But “Stieber for 3” was a common phrase coming out of the mouth of the De Pere announcer on Friday night. Stieber scored a game-high 18 points on six 3-pointers as the Trojans pulled off an all-important 56-42 Fox River Classic Conference victory over the Redbirds.

Elena Miller is a senior at De Pere High School currently on the girls’ basketball team.

Several area wrestlers won WIAA Division 1 regional titles or finished in the top four Feb. 9 to advance to sectionals.

Offensive rebounds and the play of sophomore Sammy Opichka helped the Green Bay Notre Dame girls’ basketball team to a 46-43 Fox River Classic Conference overtime win over De Pere Feb. 5 at Notre Dame High School.

DE PERE—The inside-out game was clicking on all cylinders this evening for the De Pere Redbirds boys’ basketball team.Post Brad Nies and sixth-man extraordinaire Will Dehn scored 22 and 20 points respectively as De Pere defeated the Ashwaubenon Jaguars by a final of 70-52 Feb. 2 at De Pere High School.
