Former Green Bay Packers Player/Coach Johnny Blood’s Sailors’ Union of the Pacific card. A corresponding longshoreman certificate of discharge lists Blood’s discharge date as June 26, 1934, in San Francisco — just a little over a week before what became known as “Bloody Thursday” when longshoremen on strike battling over wages and hours clashed with police. The strike led to the unionization of West Coast ports.
