Position/Events: Defensive tackle/left tackle

This season, Vernon and his team started off the season strong by breaking a two-year losing streak by beating Belmont 20-12.

Have you ever played any other sports besides football?

I have played basketball and lacrosse.

What does your support system look like?

My support ranges from family, my partner, coaches, teammates and the Oneida community.

What is your favorite part about playing a team sport?

The friendships I have made, and it’s fun.

How do you prepare for a game?

I usually prepare for a game by staying in a positive mindset and having a strong gameplan in mind throughout the week.

What are you most excited about for your senior season?

I’m most excited to lead the team the best I can and turn our team around into a powerhouse.

Who has been the most impactful coach in your football career so far?

Coach Gosse (Jared Gosse) has been the most impactful coach I have had even outside of football. He works just as hard as the players to make us a better team.

What do you enjoy about playing 8-man football, compared to playing for a bigger team?

I enjoy playing 8-man because you get to play both sides of the ball, and I need to be more versatile. Also, I get to represent Oneida playing for my team.

What is your favorite part about playing football?

My favorite part about playing football is the grind to get better and prove I can perform.

What is one game you played that you will never forget?

Probably my career highlight, the game against Belmont a week ago, is a game I’ll never forget.

Did any of your family members play football before you? How did you get started playing football?

My dad played football, but I started because everyone else was, and it seemed fun.

What is your favorite song?

At the moment it’s “Carrollton” by $uicideboy$ or “Skull and Bones 322” by City Morgue.

Would you rather have a sweet or salty snack?

I have a big sweet tooth, so I’d much rather have a sweet snack.

Do you prefer playing in the heat or the rain?

I absolutely love games in the rain!

What are your plans for next year (college/major/career)?

Next year, I’m hoping to play college football to continue my athletic and academic career.
