Artist Angle: Lynn Peters

Medium/Art Form: Visual

When and how did you start making art?

My mom was an art teacher, so I grew up doing art projects, but as an adult I didn’t do much until a few years ago. Being chosen to paint murals for the Town of Ledgeview really made me think of myself as an artist… It was a mental game changer!

What inspires your work?

Lots of things. But my “Chickie” series was inspired by my sister always starting a text or call with “Hetmy, Chickie!”

How would you describe Green Bay/NE Wisconsin’s arts community?

Encouraging. As an emerging artist, I expected to be looked down upon, but I’ve experienced lots of encouragement.

What is the best advice you have for other artists?

Two things. Keep going, and find the courage to put yourself out there, even if it’s just a little bit.

Where can people find your work?

This June and July, at the Art Garage. My notecards, which are prints of my paintings, are for sale at the Cedarburg Cultural Center and The Shop on Main in Oconto.
