Green Bay Rockers wrap up season prep

Green Bay Rockers begin their 2023 season.

GREEN BAY – In one final team workout before the Rockers headed to Fond du Lac to face the Dock Spiders in their first game of the 2023 season, Field Manager Chris Krepline led the Rockers through an evening batting practice and some field work on Sunday, May 28, from 5-7:30 p.m.

It was recently announced that Krepline would be reprising his role with the team this season as field manager for the second year in a row.

Krepline has extensive experience as the head coach of the baseball program at Lawrence University in Appleton, where he has led the team for the past five years.

First game of 2023 season

The Rockers faced off against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders on Monday, May 29, in the first contest of a 72-game season.

The game took place at Herr-Baker Field in Fond du Lac at 1:05 p.m.

The Rockers finished last season with an impressive record of 20-16, looking to perform even better this year.

Green Bay was well prepared heading into this game with experienced players coming off great 2023 spring seasons, such as Kyle West in the infield and Parker Coley in the outfield.

The team also began the game with great talent on the mound with Chris Naronis.

The Rockers began their season strong, beating the Dock Spiders on their own field in an exciting 11-inning win with a final score of 12-10.

This win placed the Rockers in a great position for the start of the season with a record of 1-0.

Home opener

The Rockers held their home opener against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders on Tuesday, May 30, at 6:35 p.m. at Capital Credit Union Park.

Green Bay continued their win streak against the Dock Spiders, beating them 9-5.

The Rockers took the lead early, as Kyle West banged two homeruns and drove in four RBI. Luke Moeller and AJ Anzai each also contributed to a strong Green Bay offense throughout the game.

After some back and forth runs the rest of the game, the Rockers were able to enter the final inning and claim their second win of the season with nine runs on the night to Fond du Lac’s five.

The fans were welcomed to the park for an enjoyable night, beginning with a musical performance by Johnny Wad, an hour before the first pitch.

The next Green Bay Rockers home game will be Friday, June 2, at 6:35 p.m.
