GREEN BAY – Cordell Tinch is a national champion — times two.

The 2018 Bay Port graduate won the 60-meter hurdles and the high jump at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championship on March 11.

Tinch is a member of the Pittsburg State University men’s track and field team that also captured the team national title.

The 22-year-old sophomore won the 60-meter hurdles in with a meet-record time of 7.51 seconds. In the high jump, Tinch cleared 7 1.25 feet.

At the end of February, Tinch broke the Division II national record in the 60 hurdles at 7.50 seconds.

For more on Tinch’s phenomenal track and field season at Pittsburg State, check out the March 10 issue of The Press Times.
