What is a favorite memory from playing basketball at East?

“I would have to say my first win at East. The first win I was a part of at East, that was probably one of the most memorable moments. My teammates embraced me, everybody congratulated me on being there with them and everybody got their win. It was just a good time to be with my teammates, a very special moment to me.”

How have you bonded with the other seniors on the team?

“There were a couple seniors that weren’t there last year that came along this year. They came on the team and we all clicked really well. Including underclassmen, we really got together, got some sort of chemistry off court, and then tried to make it happen on court with each other. The seniors, we understand that our season is about to come to an end, so we’re trying to make the most of it. Our bond is very tight.”

Was there an adjustment when the Red Devils got a new coach this year?

“It was pretty easy to overcome, especially the players that were playing last year. Pretty conveniently, the new head coach was already assistant coaching last year, so it was kind of like a roll in and fill in where we left off.”

What is your role on the court?

“Really, my role is to try my best to be the aggressor. On offense, get to the rim, because my coach trusts me with that touch around the rim. He always encourages me to just be the aggressor on the team, get down on the ground before anybody, get a couple floor burns.”

What is a key to rebounding well?

“For one, you have to find a body, find that offensive player and get into him and want it more. You have to want the board more, because that starts your possession. I really feel like I just want it more than anybody else on the floor, so I just go up there and get it.”

Do you have a role model in the NBA?

“I styled my game after Kevin Durant and I just put my own little touches on what I know how to do. I just try to upgrade around those fields. We’re both pretty skinny guys, so he made me believe that if he can make it with his body, then I can too. He really gives me inspiration.”

Where do you go out to eat as a team?

“My favorite place we went to is Happy Joe’s. The pizza was amazing. Usually, whenever we go, it’s maybe the day after on a weekend. We would go to Happy Joe’s as a team, chill and have a few laughs.”

Who is at the top of your music playlist?

“Right now, Yeat is up there for me. I have a couple hip-hop/trap rappers that I’m into right now — Lil Durk, Lil Baby, EST Gee.”

What is a show that you’re binging?

“I’m a really big anime fan, so I’m very much into an anime called One Piece. That’s my favorite anime right now, I’m binging that. There’s a lot of episodes. Out of about 1,200, I’m only at about 600 right now, but I’m trying to get there.”

What is one of your hobbies?

“I really like to play video games in my spare time. My favorites are of course [NBA] 2K, Rainbow Six Siege and Overwatch.”

Where is a favorite place to travel to?

“My favorite place is Chicago due to the fact that I was born and raised there before moving to Green Bay last year.”

What do your plans after high school look like?

“I’m contemplating taking a year off after my senior year to get my body right and make sure that I’m built enough for the next level. I have no care in the world for where I will be as long as it’s basketball. I just really want to play at the next level. I really want to get there, and I will push myself as much as I can to really see where I can get myself to be at.”
