GREEN BAY – The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region will begin construction on  Monday, March 6, to replace the northbound WIS 32/57 bridge over County PP in the city of De Pere.

The $1.55 million project is expected to finish in mid-May of this year.

Traffic flow

The northbound WIS 32 bridge and southbound County PP will be closed to replace the structure.

The northbound WIS 32 bridge over County PP will be closed starting Monday, March 6, and remain closed for the duration of construction.

Southbound County PP will be closed to through traffic between WIS 32/57 and O’Keefe Road starting Monday, March 6, and remain closed until the new bridge opens.

Access will be maintained to properties in the closed portion of County PP.

Detours

Northbound WIS 32 traffic will be directed to use County X (Heritage Road) to County PP (S Broadway Street) and back on WIS 32.

Southbound County PP traffic will utilize WIS 32 to County X (Heritage Road) to County PP (S Broadway Street).

This is a bridge replacement project, including the demolition of the existing structure and replacing it with a prestressed concrete girder bridge.

Construction also includes paving and tying the bridge to the new structure and replacing of beamguard.

The project will address structural issues needed to avoid further deterioration and safety concerns.

The bridge was built in the 1960s and was previously repaired in 2007. The new bridge is expected to last into the next century.
