Railroad Museum Plans

By Janelle Fisher

City Pages Editor

ASHWAUBENON – The National Railroad Museum’s request for approval of a site plan for a proposed 32,040-square-foot addition to its Lenfest Center was approved unanimously at the Jan. 3 meeting of the Ashwaubenon Site Plan Review Committee.

The addition will primarily extend towards the Fox River, on the eastern end of the existing Lenfesty Center, but will also add space north of the existing building.

A covered patio will extend from the proposed addition and a concrete sidewalk is planned to extend around the outside of the addition parallel to the rail line.

Along with the addition to the building, the proposed site plan includes a new parking lot on the north side of the Lenfesty Center to be accessed from the existing driveway and a new sidewalk from the current parking lot to the new Lenfest Center addition.

“It’s a beautiful addition,” Ashwaubenon Village President Mary Kardoskee said. “It’s really, really attractive.”

With the site plan approved, the National Railroad Museum will be able to move forward with its expansion plan provided it meets the conditions and requirements for code compliance laid out by the Site Plan Review committee.
